Vote NO on 4

Amendment 4 is a proposed amendment to the Florida Constitution that would essentially establish an unlimited right to abortion throughout pregnancy even when the heartbeat of the preborn child is detected, when the preborn child can experience pain, and when the child is capable of living outside the womb.

Amendment 4 will appear on the November 5, 2024, ballot and require approval from 60% of the electorate to pass.

We urge all parishes, schools, families, ministries, and individual Catholics to encourage voters to join in our opposition and reject this extreme and ill-conceived proposition.

Upcoming Events

The Archdiocese will be hosting a few events on the months prior to the Elections to spread the word in our advocacy efforts opposing Amendment 4.

The Pontifical Choir will sing for major liturgical celebrations in the life of the archdiocese celebrated by the Archbishop of Miami in his Cathedral-Church and elsewhere. These include Chrism Mass, ordinations of deacons, priests, and bishops, the Rite of Election, the Rite of Reception, the annual Wedding Anniversary Mass, and the Archbishop’s Thanks-for-Giving Mass. The liturgical obligations of the choir are such that they will not interfere with a chorister’s participation in their parish’s music program. Most liturgies are on Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons at the Cathedral of Saint Mary in Miami.

Membership in the choir is open to organists, choir directors, canters, and other singers from throughout the three-county area of the archdiocese. The ability to read music, though recommended is not required. Only a simple placement audition and the ability to commit to the rehearsal schedule is necessary. Regular rehearsals, beginning in September, will be on Saturday mornings, approximately twice monthly at the cathedral.

For further information or to schedule a placement audition, email Max Tenney, Archdiocesan Director of Sacred Music at mtenny@theadom.org

Friday, October 18th is the Feast Day of Saint Luke.

St. Luke, the evangelist, was a gentle companion to Paul, who proclaimed the good news through his gospel, making known God’s kingdom of love for all, especially the lowly and the poor.

Luke, a Syrian physician, authored Acts of the Apostles, and a gospel for gentile Christians; it speaks of God’s mercy, universal salvation, love of the poor and the marginalized, absolute renunciation, prayer, and the Holy Spirit, represented by a winged ox. He is the patron saint of medical professionals, painters, artists, sculptors, and butchers. This is a good day to pray for doctors, nurses, medi-cal technicians, hospital administrators, and emergency personnel.

Beware of Scammers +

Thursday, September 26, 2024

The Archdiocese of Miami has heard reports of scammers impersonating Archbishop Thomas Wenski and some of our priests on Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms, as well as via texts and phone calls. Please be aware that no archdiocesan priest or bishop will ever contact you directly asking for money, gift cards or anything else.

If you, your friends, family, or parish staff receive a direct message from anyone impersonating Archbishop Wenski or one of our priests, please do not respond.

Report the fake account immediately to the social media platform and let the archdiocesan Communications Office know by emailing mrivas@theadom.org

Impersonator scams also should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission by calling 1-877-382-4357; or Florida’s Consumer Protection Division, 1-866-966-7226. Find out more about the types of scams making the rounds at myfloridalegal.com

Stewardship Corner +

Friday, October 11, 2024

As stewardship leaders, we are encouraged to reflect on our blessings, enhance them, and share them with oth-ers, recognizing that everything we possess is a gift from God. When we give of ourselves and help others, we demonstrate God’s love.

“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:25)

Jesus uses a strong visual analogy to make us understand our calling. He wants to show us that his conditions are not easy, and we are asked for true generosity with all our gifts including the gift of self which includes our time in prayer to God, our talent in participating in parish ministries and our treasure supporting our local parish and other charities.

ABCD - Stewardship

Stewardship is a way of life; we recognize by faith that everything we are and everything we have are gifts from God. Stewardship is not a matter of giving a little more; rather, it is a way of life.

“Do not be afraid; just have faith.”
- Mark 5:36

Jesus spoke these simple words to the synagogue official before curing the little girl. We are all faced with challenges and tribulations daily.

Do we truly have faith as good stewards and place things in His hands or are we afraid and feel troubled?

-----------------

As of today, we would like to provide an update on our parish’s performance for the 2024 ABCD. Please find below a summary of our parish’s progress:

  • Parish Goal: $97,062.00
  • Total Gifts: $87,178.00
  • Gift Over/Under: $9,884.00

Our commitment to the 2024 ABCD as a parish is a testimony to our collective faith and the love we have for those in need. Though we have made significant progress, we’ve yet to meet our goal. Every contribution helps, and with your support, we can make a real difference. Please take a moment to consider making a gift to the ABCD today - helping us achieve our goal and offering love and compassion to those who need it most.

If you have not already done so, please make your pledge to ABCD today.
